Honey Badger vs Wolverine

This fight features two of our readers favorite combatants, the Honey Badger from South Africa and the Wolverine of North America. Both of these animals have fearless reputations and have been known to fight off much bigger predators from their prey. Let's take a closer look to see just how a fight between these little warriors would turn out.

Tale of the Tape:

The Wolverine is the largest of the weasle family but resembles and acts like a small Bear. It is stocky muscular and ferocious. Male wolverines can weigh up to 70 lbs and reach a length of 3 ft. The Wolverine has been known to attack prey many times its size, with documented accounts of predation of moose. The wolverine has large teeth and a bite force that enables it to crush bones and frozen carcasses.

The Honey Badger, despite its name, biologically is more closely related to a Wolverine than badger species. Like the Wolverine, the ratel is notorious for its ferocity and fearless nature, even being able to scare lions and leopards away from their kills. The Honey badger has been deemed by the guiness book of world records as the most fearless animal on the planet. It is stocky but quick and has thick but loose skin that provides protection from attack.

The Fight

A 30 lb honey badger locks in on the scent of a large mammal carcass near by and quickly scampers towards it. Approaching the carcass, the honey badger learns that he is not first to the kill as a 50 lb wolverine has already started to dig in. The fearless honey badger still has his eye on the prize and darts at the wolverine to scare it off. However, the wolverine is extremely aggressive when provoked and the fight ensues between the two stubborn animals. The speed of the honey badger allows it to get in close and smack the wolverine with its 3 in claws, drawing first blood. The honey badger takes a bite at the wolverine but finds its fur too thick to inflict much damage. The wolverine counter attacks with a bite to the neck of the honey badger, however only catching some of its thick skin. This allows the badger to turn back around and take another shot at the wolverine. The wolverine uses this opportunity to take another bite of his own, this time to the leg of the honey badger. It crushes the smaller animals bones with its powerful jaw before finishing it with a claw to the underbelly.

Dingo: Hunting Behavior

Dingoes often kill by biting the throat and adjust their hunting strategies to suit circumstances. For bigger prey, due to their strength and potential danger, two or more individuals are needed. Such group formations are unnecessary when hunting rabbits or other small prey

American Dingo: Behavior

In the wild, Carolina dogs lived in swampy, sparsely settled land instead of the highly populated areas stray dogs commonly occupied. When hunting, Carolina Dogs used an effective “pack formation”. They hunted snakes using a whip-like motion, and predated on small and medium-sized mammals such as raccoons.

FIGHT SCENARIO:

The American Dingo or Carolina Dog has been separated from its pack while searching for smaller vermin to snack on. While searching around a densely wooded area – the trees part and a somewhat sandy clearing emerges. Before the American Dingo stands a slightly larger Australian Dingo. It has been 2 days since the Dingo has eaten – it is irritated and hungry.

Quickly, the AUS Dingo begins to circle the Carolina Dog – growling menacingly as it eyes its new prey. The Carolina Dog takes a defensive position, caught off guard but the sudden aggression of this foreign dog. The AUS Dingo, blind with starvation lunges at the Carolina Dog, its jaws snapping air. The Carolina Dog has been able to side leap and barely miss a death blow. Taking the defensive, it snaps back, catching the shoulder of the AUS Dingo. Now wounded, the AUS Dingo has begun darting wildly at Carolina Dog – confusing its target and putting the dog on its heels. The Carolina Dog begins to retreat. Sensing the Carolina Dog in a vulnerable position the AUS Dingo lunges – using it’s slightly longer sneak and snout – and damages the hind legs of the Carolina Dog. Yelping in pain, the Carolina Dog goes down on its hind legs. Darting to the other side before the Carolina Dog can turn its head – its neck is left exposed and the AUS Dingo closes in. With its strong front jaw and long canine teeth the AUS Dingo bites into the Carolina Dog’s neck and locks. The Carolina Dog feebly struggles to survive while calling out. The Carolina Dog’s demise is imminent and as it succumbs to the AUS Dingo’s bite, it’s pack can be heard barking in the distance – coming to the rescue of its fallen member….

Honey Badger (Ratel) vs Ocelot

Here we have a very interesting fight between the legendary Honey Badger of Africa and the Ocelot the small jungle cat of Central and South America.

The Honey Badger, despite its name, biologically is more closely related to a Wolverine than badger species. Like the Wolverine, the ratel is notorious for its ferocity and fearless nature, even being able to scare lions and leopards away from their kills. Ratels do not discriminate when feeding, it will hunt and eat birds, rodents, tortoises, lizards and large snakes. They devour all parts of their prey, including skin, hair, feathers, flesh and bones, holding their food down with their forepaws.

The Ocelot acts very much like a small jaguar. It is the largest of the small Leopardus cat genus. Despite its size, it will take down prey as large as deer. Ocelots are also ferociously territorial and will fight one another, sometimes to the death, to defend its territory.

When pitted against each other, I feel the Ocelot would first engage the Ratel as it may look like a potential prey. The ratel, is known to scream loudly when it is backed into a corner, which would temporarily push back the cat. Once settled down, the Ocelot would pounce on the badger and bite down on its neck. However, the ratel has a secret defense, its skin is very thick and very loose, which allows it to turn all the way back at its attacker and clamp down on its throat with is powerful jaws.

Hippo vs Rhino

Big match up between african heavy weights! This fight has been requested hundreds of times since the dawn of this website. This fight could happen in the wild as their habitats do overlap.

The hippo is a massive and ferocious animal. It spends about 75% of its time submerged in water, but despite this fact, hippos are surprisingly graceful on land and have been clocked at 19 mph over short distances.

Hippos are naturally aggressive and routinely attack other animals, such as crocodiles, in its habitat. A hippo's mouth can open to 4 feet and wields tusks that are nearly 3 ft long!

The White Rhino is equally as massive and aggressive as the hippo and possesses a towering horn that can grow up to 5 ft! Rhinos have a tough, thick hide that helps prevent injuries. Amazingly at this size, rhinos can charge at bursts of up to 40/mph.

Conclusion:

Obviously in the water the rhino has no chance but since there is no reason that the rhino would be in the water this fight takes place on land. I know there are many hippo supporters out there but I just dont see any circumstances where the hippo would be able to get around the Rhino's defenses. The two beasts would size each other up for a while before the rhino would gore the hippo from under its mouth and straight through its head.

Great Barracuda vs Goliath Tigerfish

Fish fights are always tough to do because, well, theres not much more either combatant can do than bite. Also this fight could never occur naturally because the Barracuda lives in salt water, while the tigerfish is found in the fresh water of the Congo River in Africa. Both of these fish have nasty reputations for their willingness to take a bite out of anything.

The Great Barracuda often grows over 6 ft long and can weigh up to 100 lbs. It has a very large mouth with two sets of razor sharp teeth that can measure up to 1 inch in length. However, speed may be the barracuda's greatest attribute in this fight. In a short burst it can reach speeds of 27 mph!

The Goliath Tigerfish is one of mother nature's scariest looking creatures. It is armed to the gills with 32 razor-sharp teeth that can reach well over an inch in length. Goliath Tigerfish can reach 6.5 ft and weigh in at 125 lbs. Tigerfish are known to be cannibals as well and will fight each other in the wild.

These fish are both legendary for their ferocity but in a one on one battle, I would have to take the Tigerfish as the victor.

One frequently requested Animal Fight is Siberian Tiger vs Polar Bear. These two dominant predators are the masters of their domains and even humans fear them in their natural environments.

In this ultimate bear vs big cat fight, the big teeth and the ability to hold on is key. The big cat's great agility will win this one through though, as it can dominate space in three directions and the polar bear cannot easily handle an agile enemy. The polar bear, slower and not accustomed to fast moving enemies that fight back, will be unable to handle a big cat with claws and teeth. The fight is over almost before it has started, with the Siberian Tiger able to run and move swiftly in the environment.

So the first fight ever on this blog and really the reason the blog began was the debate over Lion vs Tiger.

Well that fight has since been buried but I wanted to show the results of the polling that has taken place over a year now.

Eagle vs Cougar

Eagles and Cougars are two wide-ranging carnivores in North and South America, and so it is inevitable that there will be some conflict between them over food at times. While they tend to hunt different types of animals, both will hate to give up a fresh kill to another animal and so most likely conflicts will come around prey and hunting rights.

Bald eagles can have a wingspan of 2.5 meters (taller than any man), and a body length of about 30-40 inches, so their massive wings let them fly easily and buffet and glide quite well. Cougars are ground animals, between two and two and a half feet tall and between 115 and 200 pounds. Both tend to eat a lot of small animals and rodents, and so competition for food will bring these two to conflict.

The bald eagle will go for the eyes of the cougar, because blinding it or damaging its ability to find the eagle will allow the eagle to carry its food away to eat safely in a tree. The cougar's large claws and tough grip will give it a chance to take the eagle down first and restrict its movement while it bites it in the head or neck. In this case, the cougar catches the eagle in its arms as it swoops at the cougar's head, knocking the eagle to the ground and breaking its neck. The swift and powerful leaps of the cougar are no match for the slower eagle that goes down almost immediately with a broken neck from its powerful jaws.

Werewolf vs Sasquatch

One requested fight is two of fiction's greatest unknown creatures,

the elusive sasquatch of the American northwest, and the vicious werewolf of mythology. The werewolf can take two forms, of a human or of a part-man, part-wolf creature that stands over 6 feet tall and has long claws. The sasquatch stands approximately 7 feet tall meaning that it has a very large reach with its heavily muscled arms and is very dangerous from a distance. Both animals

have reputations for being able to move very fast, climb well, and be incredibly dangerous in physical encounters.

In a fight, the werewolf must be in wolfman form to have any chance of being able to stand up to a sasquatch. The sasquatch is too big and fast to not simply crush any human. In wolfman form there will be a big struggle between them. The sasquatch will need to be able to stay agile and move and out of the wolf'

s reach unless it can pin one or both of its arms quickly. The raking claws of the werewolf will instantly inflict deep searing wounds in anything that it connects with.

This time, the sasquatch starts at a distance and must first wade into the werewolf and try to pin one or both of its arms. It is up to chance if the werewolf will connect with one of its big swings while the sasquatch does this. The sasquatch does get in without being clawed too much, and grabs the werewolf by one arm and fo

rces it towards the ground. The werewolf still has its strong wolf jaws though and another arm free, and rakes at the back of the sasquatch. The sasquatch roars in pain and rears back suddenly, and the werewolf is able to get its bearing and bite at the sasquatch. The sasquatch hangs on though and breaks the arm of the werewolf that it has been pinning. The werewolf is in a haze and swings at the sasquatch again but it is still on the ground an

Bobcat vs Pit Bull

Everyone has an opinion about if they love a dog or a cat more. What I am trying to do here is settle once and for all which one would win in a fight to the death by two of the more well known individuals in these families.

The Bobcat is a North American cat that usually huts for insects and small deer for food. Bobcats are very territorial animals. They commonly mark their borders with claw marks and soil deposits. There are specifically twelve subspecies of Bobcats. All range throughout North America into Mexico. Our Bobcat has been in the woods its whole life and has recently acquired rabies. This viral disease causes inflammation in the brain which does nothing but to piss it off that much more.

We first need to start out by specifically saying this is an American Pit Bull Terrier. Pit Bull Terriers are medium sized dogs with short smooth coats. They are very muscular and have gotten a bad reputation for their aggression issues. Although this is only an issue for mistreated dogs in most cases pit bulls are know as dogs who will bit and are too stubborn to let go of their prey no matter what. The pit bull in this case just so happens to be one of Michael Vick's former pets. We all know how much he pissed those animals off. So not only is this one mean son of a bitch (ha literally) but he's pissed off that Vick made millions of dollars and treated him like shit for so long.

Needless to say we have a fight here of two pissed off combatants!

The battle itself wouldn't really be all that eventful, but I'll try and break it down for you. The bobcat would start out with an early lead keeping its distance from the pit bull and getting some pretty wicket attacks in with its claws. These attacks only go to piss off Mike's dog that much more. After a few minutes of this cat and mouse game the pit bull is able to latch onto one of the bobcats legs. In typical pit bull fashion it refuses to let go. Although the bobcat continues to rake at the pit bulls eyes it simply can't get away. After about five minutes of this both animals are sufficiently mutilated. Then the pit bull makes its move to get a better hold on the bobcat. Although it can't see because of all the blood in its eyes it doesn't really matter because the bobcat can't get away with a practically ripped off leg. A nice hold later and the pit bull has a firm grasp around the bobcats neck.

A short while later the fight is over. The bobcat is limp. Despite this the pit bull continues to hold on and shake the lifeless animal around for another good five minutes.

Victor - Short lived for the pit bull before It's Painful death at the hand of the rabies it gets from the bobcat.
